Introducing Pamela Harris, Our New CFO

Introducing Pamela Harris, Our New CFO!

We’re thrilled to announce that, after an extensive search, Pamela Harris has joined Community Foundation Sonoma County as our Chief Financial Officer. Pamela brings with her a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to our mission.

Pamela has devoted her career providing financial management and operational services to nonprofit organizations that align with her values, especially those that tackle issues such as affordable housing, LGBTQ rights, and racial and socioeconomic inclusion. Her community organizing and service have earned her the Spirit of Vassar Award from her alma mater, the Mildred Parish Massey Legacy Award from Congresswoman Barbara Lee, a Social Justice Champion Award from then-California Assembly member Rob Bonta, and a Reel Sisters of the African Diaspora Prize, among other honors.

“Trying to do what you can in your own way to improve the human condition is what I think I should be doing on the planet. That’s what I’m trying to do in my own unique way in finance in the nonprofit sector.”

As a former Fulbright Fellow to Uruguay and fluent in Spanish, Pamela’s unique perspective and natural curiosity deepens her understanding of the complex challenges facing our community. Pamela holds a B.A. from Vassar College and a master’s in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a proud third generation Californian, and lives in Oakland with her two children. Pamela is always learning new things, is an enthusiastic gardener, and enjoys swimming and cooking with her family.

“The value of being of service in the community was instilled in me by my parents. My vision is always to be in a position that nourishes the community, my family, and myself. Some people might be surprised to hear that finance can be nourishing, but it can be, and it is absolutely! Especially when those funds are being stewarded into places that are essential in our community.”

Pam’s first day with us was February 27th, and she has already made a significant impact. Her leadership and expertise will be invaluable as we work to support the needs of our community and work towards a Sonoma County where we all can thrive.

“I’m looking forward to connecting with other leaders in our community who are administrators, especially burgeoning and developing administrators, who are interested in the administrative side as part of our commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion.”

Please join us in welcoming Pamela to the Community Foundation Sonoma County family!
