Kristin Nelson is a do-gooder who believes in the power of community. Whether community is neighbors, colleagues, or strangers with shared interests and challenges, Kristin trusts that together, community can influence positive change.
Her work at the Community Foundation focuses on building relationships between donors and community-based organizations to influence positive change in our community. She works with high-net worth individuals, families, and wealth advisors to understand their charitable intentions and maximize the impact of their giving now and after their lifetime. Kristin also leads the Community Foundation’s Philanthropic Advising Team.
A double graduate of the University of San Francisco, she holds a Master of Science in Organization Development and an undergraduate Communications degree. Kristin is active as a volunteer leader within the Bay Area nonprofit community and served as the Vice Chair of the board of directors at the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center.
She currently serves on Impact 100 Redwood Circle’s Leadership Team and she was honored and wowed to give a TEDx talk on solving homelessness in April 2014.
Kristin’s involvement in the community does not end there – she is also a volunteer at her daughter’s school. Kristin also enjoys and appreciates the natural scenery found throughout Sonoma County. She understands the connection between land and place and appreciates the sacredness that the land in Sonoma County holds.
