The Greater Good for Donors and Greater Good for Advisors newsletters are going on vacation for the months of July and August. Look for their return (probably looking relaxed and tanned and full of stories of swimming pools, exotic foods, and good deeds) in September.
Until then, feel free to peruse the Community Foundation Sonoma County’s story banks for articles about philanthropy, local nonprofits’ work, and community victories and challenges.
If you are looking for activities around Sonoma County, we recommend checking out this list, published by the Press Democrat.
Our favorite (so far) summer reading list comes from Science Friday. The NPR show shares staff (and sci-fi experts’) favorite science-fiction books for a little twist on usual summer reads.
At a recent staff meeting, the staff check-in question was “what are you most looking forward to this summer?” As it turns out, we like to eat outside and enjoy the bounty that Sonoma County has to offer. In honor of the beauty of our county, we would like to share a few recipes for summer eating.
- In Kristin Nelson’s (Senior Philanthopic Advisor) backyard, this grilled whole chicken from the Food Lab is a summer staple. (She just fed an army of 24 Heures du Mans fans with it, too.)
- J Mullineaux (Vice President for Philanthopic Planning) shakes up the tastiest blueberry mojito for out-of-town guests. (J, we will be right over!)
- Karl Grimm (Vice President for Finance and Operations) is also the CFSC’s food scientist, as such, excellent baker. He suggests starting this tomato tart before you get hungry – especially if you are socializing over a glass of wine with friends.
- Leanna Edwards (Executive Assistant) keeps this fresh and healthy tomato and basil dressing on hand throughout the summer. Yum!
