Community Foundation Sonoma County Welcomes Deirdre Holbrook as Vice President for Philanthropic Advancement
We are thrilled to share that Deirdre Holbrook will be joining Community Foundation Sonoma County as our new Vice President for Philanthropic Advancement, starting on July 30th.
With over 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, Deirdre brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong connection to our community. Her previous experience includes leadership roles at Year Up, the nation’s foremost equity-based workforce development organization, and Sonoma Land Trust, a leader in regional land conservation. Additionally, she has held key roles as the Director of Communications and Outreach for Marin Agricultural Land Trust and as Director of Communications for Peninsula Open Space Trust.
“We’re thrilled to have Deirdre join us as a key member of our leadership team at such a pivotal time at the Community Foundation. Deirdre’s extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, commitment to our work, and impressive background in nonprofit work will bolster the Community Foundation’s efforts to create a Sonoma County where we all can thrive. We are confident that our donors and fund holders will greatly benefit from Deirdre’s expertise, and we’re looking forward to the incredible impact she will make in this role,” said Óscar Chávez, CFSC President & CEO.
Deirdre is an active member of the Board of Directors for the Community Alliance with Family Farmers and co-founded Impact 100 Redwood Circle, a women’s collective giving organization that has granted nearly 1.5 million dollars to Sonoma County nonprofits since 2016. A 4th generation Bay Area resident, she holds a BA from the University of California at Santa Cruz and an MA from Northwestern University.
Deirdre is deeply committed to our community and eager to collaborate with our donors to address Sonoma County’s most critical issues. She is passionate about creating opportunities for all, supporting affordable housing, addressing climate change, and preserving Sonoma County’s agricultural heritage.
“Community Foundation Sonoma County has a bird’s-eye view of both the county’s pressing needs and the resources available to address them. I’m thrilled to join the team that will continue to advance this vital work,” said Deirdre. “Equity is important to me, and I’m eager to join CFSC’s efforts to create a more equitable and inclusive Sonoma County.”
In her personal time, Deirdre enjoys cycling, running, skiing, gardening, cooking and spending time with her daughter and son. She is most excited to connect with our donors and fund holders to learn about what they are passionate about, and to support them in achieving their charitable goals. Deirdre is looking forward to participating in strategic planning and helping shape the exciting future of CFSC. She aims to make philanthropy in Sonoma County more inclusive and position CFSC to make a significant and lasting impact.
We hope you’ll join us in welcoming Deirdre Holbrook to the Community Foundation Sonoma County family!
