We are delighted to welcome Sheryl Alexander to our team this week. Sheryl joins us as our Interim CEO, a role she is well prepared for with past leadership experience that includes serving as President and CEO at Inland Empire Community Foundation, among other leadership roles.
Sheryl is a dedicated visionary and strategic executive with over 25 years of nonprofit management and philanthropic experience in organizations across the country. Sheryl led The Community Foundation (now named the Inland Empire Community Foundation) as President and CEO for six years—supporting nonprofit organizations in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. During her tenure, she implemented strategic collaborations with private foundations, organizations, the media, and other community partners to address community needs and expand organizational reach, capacity, and impact.
Sheryl brings a depth and wealth of knowledge and experience to the interim CEO position with expertise in fundraising and donor engagement, including planned giving and trusts. Most recently, Sheryl served as Development Director for the Palo Alto Humane Society, where she focused on developing strategic solutions for increasing overall organizational assets, major and planned gifts, enhancing communication strategies, and creating and implementing plans to define and accomplish organizational objectives.
Even before joining Community Foundation Sonoma County, Sheryl had set her eyes on a move to our community and is looking forward to making Sonoma County her home in the coming months.
We are thrilled to welcome her to this role; Sheryl’s leadership will continue on an interim basis while our board of directors conducts a search for a permanent CEO over the coming months.
