The 2024 Homelessness Grant Program is currently closed. Invitations for the 2025 Homelessness Grant Program will be made in Fall 2025.

Grant Program Overview

Homelessness continues to be a critical issue in Sonoma County. According to the 2024 Point-In-Time (PIT) count, the number of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness increased by 22%, rising to 1,577 from 1,291 in 2023. Job loss and unaffordable rent continue to be major challenges for many people, especially affecting populations already living on the margins.

To tackle these challenges and ameliorate the impacts of homelessness, the Homelessness Grant Program supports Sonoma County organizations that provide housing and shelter to people currently experiencing homelessness.

Grant Program Criteria

  1. Requesting organization is a Sonoma County 501(c)(3) nonprofit or an organization fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
  2. Organization provides direct shelter services to people currently experiencing homelessness.
  3. Funding is targeted toward programs that provide shelter as well as access to the continuum of care through Coordinated Entry for housing support.
  4. Organization has a demonstrated track record of successfully transitioning individuals out of homelessness.
  5. Program has low-barrier policies to ensure that services reach those most in need.
