Grant Program Overview

Community Foundation Sonoma County is dedicated to fostering equitable access to mental health services and recognizes the critical role that mental health services hold in promoting well-being and resilience within our communities. Seniors, youth, people with disabilities, low-income individuals and families, survivors of domestic abuse, BIPOC communities, and LGBTQ+ communities experience disproportionately high mental health risks and have more limited access to relevant, targeted mental health services. The Mental Health Grant Program aims to support regional nonprofits in their efforts to identify and implement holistic, culturally responsive interventions that promote resiliency and mental health in priority populations in Sonoma County.

To meet the growing mental health needs in Sonoma County, Sutter Health and Community Foundation Sonoma County (Community Foundation) are pleased to announce their collaboration in funding $500,000 through a collective Mental Health grant program for the 2024 grant cycle. This grantmaking program will help improve mental health and well-being programs by giving local nonprofits easy access to important grants from a single source.

The first recipients to tap into the collective fund are local nonprofits whose work focuses on breaking down barriers to mental and behavioral health services, especially among people and groups who are often underrepresented and underserved. This fund is designed to acknowledge and support the outstanding work of mental health and behavioral health nonprofits in Sonoma County.

“Partnerships like this are critical for tackling the growing mental health needs in Sonoma County. We are thrilled to collaborate with funding and nonprofit partners who are working towards a more equitable healthcare system in which everyone has access to the mental health services they deserve.” – Amy Holter, Vice President for Community Impact
